The Everlasting Cycle
Representing the eight seasonal festivals or Quarter Days and Cross-quarter Days, these festivals have pre-Christian origins in many countries. Recognition of the cycle of the Moon and the changes of the seasons must have occurred with the earliest sentient thought.
These eight pieces of work were constructed as postcards or small packages posted to a circle of friends on the festival days during 2003. The small vitrines were made later for an exhibition in Nottingham. The illustrations here are taken from a PowerPoint presentation and show the vitrines and some of the contents of the packages. Several include quite a lot of text, some of which is not readable at this scale; I apologise for that. One day I may remake the images in a more suitable form for the website.
